Day 6: Third Eye Chakra

Thank you for making it to Day 6 where we’ll focus on the third eye chakra! The third eye chakra (ajna) is the seat of intuition. The Sanskrit word ajna translates into “perceiving” or “command.” When balanced, we can see things as they truly are, rather than as they seem, and we are in command of our decisions. Our third eye is also the seat of meditation, so with a continued practice, we can strengthen our wisdom and intuition.

As we continue to move up the line of energy, we move into chakras that are heavily affected by imbalances below. If you aren’t able to see your true self (solar plexus) or connect with others (root and sacral), you will have a warped view of the world. If you are overly critical (throat) and lack empathy (heart), you will not be able to connect with the higher network around you.

Third Eye Chakra.png

Location: Between your eyebrows (center of the brow)

Color: Indigo

Element: Light

Affected by: Intuition, self-awareness, mental and emotional clarity

When balanced you feel: Imaginative, intuitive, able to make decisions, able to sleep soundly

When imbalanced you feel: Paranoid, indecisive, foggy, tired, sleepless

Bija mantra: “OM”

Come to a comfortable seat and close your eyes. Bring your hands to heart center, honoring your compassion. You took the time for yourself by sitting down to meditate, showing yourself compassion.

Relax your hands on your thighs. Take a deep inhale here and exhale, let it all go. We’ll begin today with one strong OM. Inhale here. OM. Allow yourself to feel the vibration around you. Take three more inhales and exhales here.

[Inhale, exhale…]

After your next exhale, turn your mind’s eye inward. Imagine a deep blue light just between your brows. The light pulses there. With every inhale it expands, empowering you. With every exhale it shrinks, releasing the word OM from it. Let the light pulse here for ten breaths.

[Inhale, exhale…]

Now you find yourself in a deserted area - it’s only you with nature. It is dark out, but millions of stars dance above you in the night sky. Away from the city lights, you see the stars so clearly, like you’ve never seen before. You notice the deep swirls of blues and purples in the night sky from distant galaxies.

You still carry the pulsing blue light on your brow. You watch as the light moves up into the night sky to join the stars above. It’s lost in the sparkles above you, but you find comfort that a piece of you is a part of something so majestic. Take a moment to bask in the beauty above you.

The light you carried watches down on you now. It can see everything so clearly from above that there is no hiding the truth.

Now bring your prayer to your third eye, the seat of intuition. Honor the wisdom that lives within you. Take ten more breaths here.

[Inhale, exhale…]

You may open your eyes when you’re ready.
